Creamed Turkey over Toast! Leftover Turkey Recipe!
What to do with that leftover turkey? This recipe is super easy and versatile. You can serve creamed turkey over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or toast, which is how I ate it growing up. Mom would make a gravy with butter, flour, and milk and then add turkey. I have added a few more ingredients to give it a boost of flavor. Creamed Turkey Ingredients 2 to 3 cups leftover turkey 1/2 onion chopped 1 celery stalk chopped 6 tbsp butter 1/3 cup flour 1 1/2 cup milk 1 cup chicken broth or chicken base dissolved in water 1 tsp dried thyme or a bundle of fresh thyme salt and pepper to taste Instructions Melt butter in a large skillet and add chopped onion and celery. Cook until the vegetables become tender and the onions translucent. Add flour, chicken broth, 1 cup milk, thyme, salt and pepper and cook until mixture thickens. Tear your turkey into pieces and add to the gravy mixture. Add the 1/2 cup of reserved milk if gravy needs thinned. Serve over toast, mashed potatoes, rice, or with egg noodles.
